At this point, the only way out of this is for them to pressure Kavanaugh to withdraw.

Trump isn't likely to withdraw the nomination for a variety of (mostly idiotic) reasons. Republican Senators who vote for the nomination are endangering themselves and/or their colleagues (in both the House and the Senate), and Republican Senators who vote against the nomination are risking turning off Trump/GOP voters heading into the midterms.

And if they proceed at this point without hearings for all of the new accusations- they're going to get destroyed in the midterms, and they know it. And if they proceed with the required hearings, they're going to lose the nomination anyway and will also end up getting destroyed in the midterms.

Meanwhile, every Democratic red state Senator has full cover to vote no, and it's difficult to imagine Collins and Murkowski voting yes at this point.

Seriously though- is it really too much to ask the GOP to stop nominating (and in some cases electing) men who prey on women?
