It's required to combo with your self-knowledge raise dead item or scroll of raise dead. Link with WoL -> raise dead, otherwise raise just stuns you.

You don't need self knowledge 308 to raise dead. Any 308 will do, and the self knowledge is good for what, 5 minutes? Guess I'll be more careful about pawning these.

You could infuse it and have sk 308 for a couple hours enabling you to raise a lot of dead people
