I think only in extreme circumstances, do children at 14 take it upon themselves to want to actually go out and get a job themselves without parents pushing them.

? I haven't been a kid in a long while... but when I was, myself, and a lot of my friends/acquaintances all worked... because we wanted to. It was nice making your own money, buying your own things, learning trades, and socializing.

Why does everyone make work out to be such a bad thing?

I'm not saying put kids in coal mines, or slave labor at 8 years old like they do in China... but a kid starting out in part time jobs around the age of 14 or so... is in my opinion... a great thing.

Others may disagree... but ever heard the term "paperboy"... yea... that's because it was children delivering papers.

This past 100 years has really diluted the intelligence, and understanding, of people... for 1000's of years... EVERYONE worked to survive... it's only in the past 150-200, and mainly the past 100, that has changed.

It's pretty crazy how ignorant people are of how our current society was made.

It was just my opinion, I didn’t start work until 16, and I don’t recall anyone younger going out and getting job, except like shovel a driveway, babysit or things along those lines.

My 14 yo is constantly trying to work to make money. I first worked at a pet store in the mall at 14. Many if my friends had jobs, from lawns to under the table stuff at restaurants.

Again I got a job at 14 IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA. All those conservative lawmakers in California allowing 14 year olds to work "unlawfully."

Is the real issue here that you are such a mess of a human being that you can't both hold a job AND do something else for 40 hours a week so you want to make sure no one else can either? No wonder you live off of welfare.
