The best setup is a crit-weighted, sanctified, blinkrot mace with grapple flares!

I heard Zealot is going to help hurling soon too!
I sorta went nuts with hurling, started with a chainspear and a bando, sold the bando, then bought a returner and another bando.
For all of its faults I could never quite sell the chainspear, even with the annoyances it was alot of fun. The only time it really sucks is when you hunt things the head can't stick into, then the pull rt is totally wasted. Otherwise I think its a fair exchange of rt, especially with the new max of 3s, for the guaranteed unbalance flare. It also flares in the same place the head sticks so you can pretty much guarantee a knockdown by hitting the legs.
Personally, I'm thinking of using it vs stone creatures with my hurling halfing paladin since I don't have a reliable knockdown to avoid the crush falls. Probably won't aim for the legs though since my understanding is an AS crit knockdown will still trigger the fall maneuver.
Melee mode was always nice except for that dang missing linebreak. The crush and slash flares seem to average a bit higher damage than other elemental flares imo.
Edited to add: I think some chainspears went out during DM as well.
Also, I wonder how much reach that extra 5 feet means ... could a giant man poke giants in the eye while they're standing?
