It's a futile attempt at propping up an economy for a small group of people at the cost of the larger community. Oddly enough when I see a character all geared out in GS, i don't think "WOW!", I think "Wow, this dude has penis size issues."

Anyone can get rich in this game if they know the good spots to hunt/farm or have the patience to merchant their way up.

My highest level character is 41 and I merchanted my way up to 70 mil. That's certainly not rich, but if I would have continued past that I'm sure I could have turned that 70 in to much more. Now that 70 mil took me 3 years, so you have to have some level of patience as well.

Rich hunting spots aren’t exclusive to capped characters. There are plenty of good low/mid level areas that are rich as fuck and/or have high skin values.

So OP is basically saying making a big event like this exclusive to only people with the highest end gear and hundreds of millions of silver is best for the "community"... seems silly to me, even for an event that was listed to be the most costly silver event in a long time. Sure, it's best for people with all of that high end stuff... but how can you make it good for the entire community? Do exactly like they did, allow people to sell their spots... because let's face it, a lot of this "community" doesn't have 600m silver... but what they do have is an opportunity to be lucky and make a little bit of silver by playing smart.

What should have happened to remove a lot of the chaos was: GM spins, tells everyone that was spun they have 5 minutes to meet at whatever room. Grab their item and be there. Then, any spot that wasn't filled could be respun on the last night or something like that all at once (Spinning for 2 voln armor, spinning for 1 enchant, spinning for 3 DB items, etc). The problem is they said passing of items and silvers was fine, which made people think they would have time, then tried to have people ready in 30 seconds, which was a recipe for disaster.

I agree 100% on the "farming" accounts though, that's not in the spirit of any event at all... but you can bet your ass my low 40s wizard was their for almost every spin because I wanted a chance to win something as well and if it didn't work for me, selling a spot was the next best thing.

Side note: Another thing that isn't good for the community, is sitting at the event and bitching and moaning the entire time, publicly, like Thaluhar did. It was so pathetic, that I was embarrassed for him.

Zul Logoth has some nice undead hunting. It really depends on what level you are and where you're willing to travel to.

All I know is: someday, somewhen, somebody is likely to end up getting a Ph.D for explaining and modelling the influences, roles, and various interactions between real-world economic systems and game-economic systems.

The roles seem to not be limited to Players playing, Middlemen bridging the gaming community and real community, and Companies seeking real-world profit to provide a gaming service.

The scary thing is this - what is going to happen when governments step in to tax and regulate? And then it won't be fun anymore.

I wonder if they could alter a spinner to require cash on hand to cover a surcharge.

Like you win a major, your next win is 5m, if you don't have 5m on your person the spinner skips over you. If you win again you need 25m on your person.

It might help with some of the farming with level 1 accounts.

Seriously, are you a fresh returning player from long ago who has all these insights into the market trends of today? I gave you a pass when you fixed your name, but now you are arguing that silvers were worth more when they were at $4, and giving folks places to spend their silvers is bad for the economy. Thats not playing devil's advocate, it's playing dumb.
