    Default Fervent Reproach build?

    I was checking out Clerics a bit and was wondering if one could build a strong character around 312 as a main attack sort of like a thornmage. Perhaps doing 2 hand open channeling with brawling as defense? Do you have to hold a brawling weapon to get the DS or does brawling give you the defense with open hands as well? Any clerics in the know have thoughts on this angle?

    That's actually a darn good question. I've been using 302 with my cleric but I'm curious if 312 would be the better way to go now. I'll play around with it a bit on my cleric to see how mana intensive a hunt would be.

    Brawling would give you DS bonus from just having your right hand open, of course if you're holding a brawling weapon in that hand you would then gain the DS bonus from said weapon (like a vultite weapon would add +20.)

    Using a runestaff counts as having one hand open as long as you don't have anything in your left hand.

    its a shame you cant get a "brawling" enchantment so you can have a 10X weapon in your "open" hand for purposes of defense. The 2 open hand channeling +6 second charge time with blessings for 1 shot kills is my angle, and if points allow, max skinning skills for good revenue generation from the woundless corpses.

    Yeah I'm curious about the charge time too, not too keen on trying out 2 open hand channeling because I love my runestaff.

    Enchant and wear UAC gloves

    Enchant bonuses added to UCS hand equipment add parry DS equal to that of one-handed weapons.

    It's a fun spell but I always got bored with it rather easily. But, it might be a fun RP tool to mess with while you're hunting. 302 is still best with a good 317 for nasty damage.

    My capped cleric solos bandits with 240/312, no charge time. 240, one cast of 312 per bandit with a very occasional 302 followup if the first 312 doesn't drop a baddie. I didn't think to try it until she was close to maxing cleric CS so I can't say how this works earlier on.

    It's actually not a bad little spell.

    My cleric is level 51 going up against Seekers (level 52), and Sabre-Tooth Tigers (level 53).

    This is all with one open hand (runestaff), 6 second charge, 30 ranks of religion lore, and offensive stance.

    So I was mostly getting a kill every 2 or 3 shots.

    Here are some casts with 302. Keep in mind my cleric has bane so 302 works better against living critters than undead.

    So while 312 was fun and you might get lucky with a one shot (although 302 has both death crits as well as instant crits), it costs more mana to kill stuff and even though it takes fewer casts to kill stuff with 312 the fact that it comes with a 9 second RT compared to a 3 second RT means it takes longer to kill stuff too.

    Maybe 312 is more worthwhile if you 2x in religion lore though.

    In the aquaduct, 312 (with 240) is pretty much one shot kills, no time added to charge it. I like 302 however (bane) because it usually gets a stun/incapacitate. I dont think 312 ever stuns. I incant 302, (hope for a stun) target next Incant 302, repeat repeat. Keeps cycling room generally stunning things until they finally get a cast that kills them. So far so good.

    Sometimes when it's really swarming I'll toss up 316, and 335 to keep things "busy" while I cycle through with 302.

    TLDR; 312 is great for trying to bleed things out hp wise, but the additional disablers with 302 from various crits help me with the swarms.

    So while 312 was fun and you might get lucky with a one shot (although 302 has both death crits as well as instant crits), it costs more mana to kill stuff and even though it takes fewer casts to kill stuff with 312 the fact that it comes with a 9 second RT compared to a 3 second RT means it takes longer to kill stuff too.

    Maybe 312 is more worthwhile if you 2x in religion lore though.

    Yeah when my cleric gets higher level and can run 240 I'll for sure look into using 240 + 312.
