So John Kelly is laying the smack down.

I think Kelly raises a good point here. Even if Trump did say something like "he knew what he was getting into", he was probably trying to say the man knew the risks yet volunteered for his country anyways because that's the kind of brave man he was. The Florida Congresswoman made it sound like Trump called up and said "Yeah, your husband knew what he was getting into." CLICK. But that's because she's politicizing the hell out of this and back.

Also John Kelly confirmed Trump's statement that presidents typically don't call the families of fallen soldiers, they usually just send letters.

I've heard the same line on CBS, NBC and CNN (Sorry ABC, I don't ever watch you..) without the context.

Wilson now says she will no longer be speaking about the phone call because, get this, the focus should be on helping the grieving widow and not on her and Trump. Gee, ya think?!

This was of course after she attacked gold star father General Kelly and after she claimed she was going to provide proof of the private moment between Trump and the widow and people would hear the "truth."

Oh yeah, she also bragged about being a "rock star" because of the controversy she created by sharing a private conversation between the president and the widow of a fallen soldier in order to score some points against the president. What a truly disgraceful piece of shit.

In Florida if she (or anyone for that matter) recorded the conversation then yes. If it happened how she explained (the call was on speaker phone) then I don't think any laws were broken by merely listening to the conversation. I don't think she would would have broken any laws just by overhearing the conversation even if the call weren't on speaker phone. The only way it would have been a crime is if neither the widow or Trump had any idea she was in a position to overhear the conversation, which seems unlikely if the widow knew she was in the car.

Growing up, my dad always told my sisters and I that empty barrels make the most noise. The lesson was that if you don't know what you're talking about, it's better to remain silent because you will learn that more often than not, the people who make the most noise and have the loudest opinions really don't know what they are talking about; they have so much to say, but they have no knowledge or research to back up what they are talking about
