All great country had a begining, a golden age, hard time and finaly a damn end...

After the greeks, the romans, the french and the english... the us..

In your idea, when was the golden age of the us, empire-like speaking... WWII? after? cold war?

And are the us on the downside of their domination as an empire? still going up?

What will break the "empire"? how will be the us after?

The American empire was at its peak during and immediately after WWII. It was the super power that brought the rest of the world out of war; also being the only one that came out of the war better then when they went in.

Downside? Absolutely... with all the anti-american sentiment from other nations. We as americans think we have the right to impose our views on other nations. We are trying to "americanize" other countries. The american dollar isn't regarded as highly as it used to be.

What will break the us? Who knows... it could be happening right now.. with our involvement in the middle east.. only time will tell.

How will the US be? Probably like any other nation that has fallen- our tail in between our legs.

I think the golden age is right after the cold war ended and we are still rising. If we arnt an empire now we never were. The hard time and end will be in the futute probably involving nuclear weapons of some sort with the US and a different country being obliterated (most likely an ally we thought we could trust). But that wont be for a ways off. We havent flexed enough muscle yet or stretched our borders enough like all the other great empires do. I want canada and mexico!
