These are rough numbers but for shield training I believe you get around .5 ds per and dodge is .3 because of plate and tower shield? So 2x shield is 4/0 and dodge is 5/3 it is much cheaper to get...

So thoughts:

2x shield and 1x dodge is a lot of points and dodge in full plate in shield has harsh returns. Should be able to drop dodge and survive just fine.

Could a case be made to not train in ambush at all as a ranger for a sniper. Looking at the formula ambush is just a bonus compared to open aiming. DS pushdown not really needed as ranged already...

The formula leaves a lot to be desired, does not indicate where the bonuses play in or the negatives in formula. Anyone have insight on this for open aiming?
