Out of the 1.5 billion dollars the Smithsonian receives every year, 2/3rds comes from the US government.

When they replace that 1 BILLION dollars of US taxpayer money with private money.. they probably don't have to listen to the US government and can do what they wish.

I'm gonna go ahead and guess that well over 99% of people living on the streets don't sleep on a bed.

Back is so fucking dumb that he actually buys the story that if someone doesn't sleep on a bed it means they aren't homeless.

The only thing of that kind that I can get behind, if it was still there, was the tent near the Vietnam Memorial that had some veteran volunteers there to help others out like providing them help to get to and from the memorial, water, some support for grief and helping others get veterans benefits. They also provided informal security. much like the old Jewish men that hang around the Holocaust Memorial. I haven't been there since 2003 so I don't know if it's still there.
