So, that doesn't really fit with your claim and lots of people die penniless if you haven't noticed. Regardless of your attempt to smear him it's not surprising that the man who co-authored the critique of capitalism that influenced the world died with modest means.
True socialism has not taken hold, nor communism for that matter, but certain socialist policies absolutely have. Some Nordic countries do have high tax rates but free healthcare, education, pensions and more. Some South American countries have nationalized their natural resources to create welfare for the general population of the countries. I don't disagree with private property or making a profit... I just have an issue a system that allows individuals to hoard more resources then they could ever use in their entire life while other people go hungry.
As I have stated many times over the years I believe that the wealthiest among us are the ones who drive the division between the rest of us to perpetuate their positions at the top. American politics has been bought, Republican and Democrat, to benefit corporations and the wealthy 1%. Everyone in Congress is getting rich off the stock market. In this country corporations are considered people and money is free speech. Those people who are paying that money? They're getting what they want. Every goddamn thing there is. And that means less for everybody else.
The past does not make the future. We may have come from a place where there is division but we can move forward to a place where there is unity. Human kind needs to work together to battle against nature, disease and cancer, and ensure the survival of our species by reaching out from this rock. We are already stewards of the planet. We have already started to explore the solar system. We have conquered some diseases. We have some safety nets for people in need. It's a tiny portion of the population that says we can't because they just want more and more for themselves. The crazy thing is we allow it!
The wealthy Americans who have bought the politicians tell us that China is the enemy, and the leaders of China have probably told their people that Americans are the enemy too, but everybody's full of s***. The only ones who are are the ones who believe it.
And another note as I edit for speech to text tweeks.. let's talk about the defense / gun / weapon industry. It's in their interest for everyone to be at war. You know those rich m************ have bought and sold every politician that can get their hands on to keep their industry thriving.
