The war against reality has been waged by the current republican party for a while now. Their leaders are telling us not to trust scientists about global warming, not to trust journalists who have been vetted by their peers, not to trust institutions of higher learning, not to trust teachers who are telling us exactly what they want in the face of this gun violence crisis in this country, and to only listen to and trust what they say. In a crazy twist of irony they say not to trust the government while being the government.
The only real comfort we can take away from this situation is the fact that humanity does progress despite the pitfalls. Here we are at the peak of civilization with the most information disseminated to as many people ever in the history of time and there are still people claiming the world is flat. Truth will survive and we will survive because of it.
