From my understanding, he was intervening to try and break up a domestic dispute in progress... don't know much beyond that. While there might be a set of circumstances that explains why he was shot several times in the back while calmly getting into a car (like that video of the lunatic chasing a cop around with a knife for a full two minutes before she finally has little choice but to cap him), I can't imagine what those circumstances could be.

If you find and watch the whole video, though... it's pretty fucked up.

You missed the point there, the complaint wasn't that the police didn't intervene -- as stated numerous times, the complaint was that they were a lot quicker to intervene with the protesters.

If they hadn't intervened in either or had intervened equally in both... that'd be a different story.

Don't misunderstand as I support neither group I posted that article about. What troubles me is that (insert left wing group here) exercises their 1st Amendment rights it's acceptable, but (insert any right wing group here) does so, well that group is in the wrong and their 1st amendment rights should be squashed. I may not like what any protesting group has to say. I do support that they are exercising their rights whether I agree with them or not.

You do make a fair point -- it really depends on the group in question, and some of those mentioned in this particular case (like the Proud Boys) have a history of some very not-cool shit. There are some extreme left-wing groups I wouldn't support, for example, and more moderate right-wing groups I wouldn't have any particular issue with exercising rightful protest. It really comes down to a matter of what they're protesting or supporting and why -- people protesting against basic human rights, for example, can fuck right off.

As far as I am concerned, the police often don't intervene quickly enough, and they need to use more forceful methods when meeting resistance.
