And the jacket, bodice and skirt all have body parts mentioned in them. Bad, bad alterer! Someone doesn't know their own rules.
Hmm, body parts aren't allowed in clothing alterations? I honestly had no clue about that. Yay me for breaking the rules.
As far as the compact mirror goes..I was thinking more along the lines of a locket-type case that held powder. There WAS makeup back in this suppose'ed time period we're in. Might not have been safe to use, what with lead used in a lot of make up, but I do believe powders and creams were kept in little cases complete with a mirror. I could be wrong though. <shrug>
And Edine, you ever notice that every time I post on here you have to make a comment on how Jes in love with you?
Its gotta make you wonder who's in love with who.
<scampers away>
You are wearing a leather crafter's apron, a black and white leather haversack, a crystal amulet, an imflass threaded war harness, a wide gold ring, some dusty leather trousers, a threadbare ochre cap, some worn leather gloves, a battered iron provisions tin, a shadowy black pin, a ragged leather axe loop with a well-balanced silver alloy waraxe hanging from it, a black angel tattoo, a silver lizard skull earring, some rugged worn boots, a chain-hung coiled invar pick, a pair of gold-rimmed spectacles, a centaur hide ankle sheath, a splintered strongbox locket, a slim-buckled strapped suede kit, a gold-flecked crystalline key charm, a darkened silver lockpick pin, a dangling kelyn lockpick neckchain, an onyx-inlaid ivory drinking horn, a delicate deathstone spider wedding band, a rune-covered obsidian amulet, a translucent spidersilk backpack, an ale-stained dark leather longcoat and a grinning skull pin.

I'm a bum...a bastard thrown upon the streets to make his own fortune.
I'm not wearing my armor, some time-worn elven crafted armor...4x altered half plate, because it's being enchanted and I'm working on forging at the moment.
A few notes....the centaur ankle sheath is a Commandant original, and the tattoo is from the original tattoo artist that was near the exchange booth in the Landing. Most of what he wears is from the original merchants and paid for by him, a few things are gifts.
Anyhow, Kyal is a street urchin and has never claimed to be more than that. He takes offense to being called "lord" as he does not hold title to any lands.
Body parts on items looks stupid. When you're holding the clothing and people inspect it, it just looks silly.
Sure they had makeup in the middle ages, but it wasn't called makeup until the early 1800s. It wasn't toted around in a compact or makeup case you could slip in a pocket. And portable mirrors were attached to handles, hence hand mirrors--not stored in a kit.
Yay you for breaking the rules? I guess. I think stuff that breaks the rules looks silly. The rules are there for a reason, and I don't think it's because GMs want to control what you wear.
My char is wearing a crystal amulet and a smile cuz she gave all her stuff away. LOL!
yes yes it is true I love Slyphs!Quote:

Caramia, I can't help but agree with you on the fact that if I were showing these items to someone, while holding them in my hand, it would be terribly rediculous.
It is a mistake I will try to correct in future alterations. But the only time I do show off the description is when one of my characters is wearing the item.
I don't think you having to call them "stupid" really justifies anything besdies making you sound like a bitch.
As far as the makeup goes, obviously I didn't research the early period make up as well as I would have liked.
Aside from your somewhat snotty comments, the information that you DID offer was informative and I will be paying more attention to how I make my show-descriptions.
Gemstone isn't time travel.
I didn't call the items stupid, I called them silly. I said showing body parts in alterations was stupid, which is a generalization about such alterations, and I gave my reasons why. It wasn't a personal attack on you, so there's no reason to get defensive or pissy. It's an opinion. Last I checked, I'm allowed one, like it or not. I don't always care for some of the more cavalier comments people toss off here like they're bon mots, either. I think the meanest thing I've said here was calling some people cold, harsh, or cruel. Many others have said far worse, and directed their comments at the player, not the character.
As for me sounding like a bitch or being snotty, oh please! There are at least a half dozen folks that post here that make me look relatively angelic and passive, and would win a sniping contest any day.
