Agreed.
For me, there are so many artists I love when it comes to Trap. I think the Genre as a whole I enjoy more than Dubstep, probably because it became too main stream for my tastes or what, I'm not sure.

Basically some djs took the music that made the background to a lot of early 2000s Southern hip hop and turned it into a new genre featuring 808s, super fast high hats, reduced pitch vocals, synths, and cinematic string music/samples.
A lot of it is music to get clubgoers to twerk to, though the people who attend these sorts of clubs are far closer to Miley than followers of New Orleans bounce that all the early 2000s Southern trap/rap and the newer djs drew from.
It's fun. It makes people dance. I approve of that. Here's an example.
