Like I said I would love to hear the cost of installing this stuff per mile. The roads we use now range anywhere from 2 million to 11 million dollars per mile. Our highway system has about 50,000 miles of road, assuming this stuff costs only twice as much we're talking between 200 billion and 1.1 trillion just to replace the highway system.

Not too much worse than our last wars or the ACA.

It seems like it would be more practical to just put panels alongside the road, plus that would cut down on landscaping costs and general pain-in-the-assery.

What happens if there are floods? Plenty of middle states have seasonal flooding. You're telling me those fiber tunnels are 100% absolutely water tight? Yeah fucking right.

I don't think flooding would be as much of a problem as earth creep or rockfalls. Regardless, this is probably something that will be limited to urban/suburban areas and non flood areas where maintenance can be easily performed.
