Solar freakin' roadways!

What's not to love about these solar freakin' roadways?

I'm guessing the cost. I can't possibly imagine how much it would cost to replace one mile of road with this stuff. Sounds like something major cities would just replace downtown main street with just for the "cool" factor.

I bet costs would go down if solar research received more support from the government and private/public corporations. Just sayin'.

But who am I kidding. This would literally kill the oil/coal/gas industry. I expect some serious opposition lobbying.

Maybe but it would never be cheaper than just slapping some tar down. Not to mention the upfront cost of tearing up the old road.

I can see possibly a point where new roads are made with this shit or when they have to replace old sections of roads maybe.
