How to save the planet from global warming:

Something else I randomly stumbled across.
Too many environmental pundits are unaware of how afraid many (not all) scientists were of catastrophic global cooling in the 1970s.
However, one reporter from the era commented on CBC's As It Happens tonight that, as near as I recall his quote, "The Earth goes through cycles, there was in Ice Age 10 000 years ago. There's reason to wonder that if mankind hadn't learned how to burn coal and oil, we'd be entering into another Ice Age right now."

Not quite schlubtard. I was more than willing to talk about the Penn and Teller video. I only asked that you, or PB or any other members or the Right Wing PC Militia reference a timestamp for the pieces you wanted to discuss. Unfortunately, you insisted that I watch it in it's entirety.
I didn't say peer-review made it right, I said peer-review made it analogous. I don't believe in climate change because of a consensus, I believe because the model works.
As for my saying it "over and over", I only count 22 posts containing the word peer at all, of which:
2 are quoting someone else who said peer
5 are jokes
1 is requesting data that doesn't have to be peer reviewed
6 refer to other uses of the word peer
That leaves 9 of the sort of uses you refer to over 11 years. I think you overstate the problem.
.
As for Scientism, "the view that empirical science constitutes the most authoritative worldview ... to the exclusion of other viewpoints.", well... yes. I've made that explicit in the past, especially compared to rationalism. I also remarked on the obvious incommunicability across that divide, that empiricism is a rational fallacy and rationalism fails empirically. Hence, I only drone on about proper empiricism for those who want to be empirical, which is everyone. Look at how many people insist that socialism has never worked. They don't insist that socialism could never work (that it is logically flawed); indeed, many will precede their criticism by saying socialism works in theory. Look! Look how people talk. Empiricism is everywhere, so let's do it right.
Bottom line, you know that we are living in an empirical world, and I am an empirical girl.
I already started the He-Man Woman Haters Club and since it's a well known fact that Republicans hate women (and gays...go figure) it just makes sense that this be our base of operation.
