You've got to realize that a Democrat President acting decisively to protect troops at our overseas bases is incredibly troubling to Republicans. Not because they disagree, they applaud him secretly afterall. No, it's because everytime they've rallied around a candidate he turned out to have a fixation with appeasing enemy authoritarians, had abnormal fascinations with sleeping with their adult daughter, or wound up facing multiple indictments for dozens of crimes committed. Calling missile strikes, and US military troops dying overseas doesn’t mean war, shit happens all the time in every presidency in recent memory.
We have US bases ALL over the world, and some of them are in not friendly areas, and shit happens ALL the time, many US troops died during Trump’s presidency, and he called in air strikes and what not. Doesn’t mean we are at war.
Israel is our ally, we will support them. But that’s not our war, nor are we directly involved. We didn’t send troops over there to help fight Hamas, during this conflict, nor do we have troops fighting in Ukraine.
Sending aid to a country at war, doesn’t mean we are at war. Supporting an ally during their war, does not mean we are at war.
The last time Congress made an official declaration of war was WWII though we have certainly had wars since then. I say this to point out declaration of war by congress isn’t how it happens in the postmodern era, and how war is defined can be somewhat subjective.
That’s why I also pointed out about troops on the ground. You can include large military operations etc etc. Biden and Trump have not done any of that.Quote:
