How long does it take to fix something so deeply rooted in American history? The first great migration might be one point in time to isolate as when the troubles of blacks in Detroit began, and that was 1916. Housing discrimination continued into well after WWII. At most its been 50 years, with other factors coming into play during those 50 years, to untangle problems that were instituted over 100 years ago.
And things are better in Detroit now than they were 10 years ago.
