25 year old daughter moves back home after her relationship goes bad (to absolutely NOBODY'S surprise). Brings her infant son, who we're happy to have close by. She decides she's going back to school, and gets a ton of student aid (grants, primarily), while also signing up for government assistance (food stamps, etc). In anticipation of the incoming student aid, she requests and gets access to my wife's bank account (check card info) to order things for the baby from Amazon (stuff like that is WAY cheaper online).
Find out today that she also signed up for a series of monthly-recurring-charge beauty products which have, on occasion, overdrafted my wife's account, racking up literally hundreds of dollars of fees and charges which she told nobody about. That account is solely for my wife to grocery shop, and that's where that budget goes. My wife never checks it. I never check it. The money goes in, she always has money for groceries, it's just not something we think about. Apparently my daughter (who checks the mail every day) has been getting in shipments of this garbage (to the tune of about 75 bucks a month), and hiding it from us, while it keeps charging it to the grocery account.
Family and money Do. Not. Mix. That's why she asked my wife instead of me for access to HER account instead of the main one.
Grrrrrrrrr.... There's gonna be some hellfire tonight at my house.
