The single biggest issue here: this isn't just some random person we're talking about. It's the President of the United States, and Mueller's team most likely can't actually indict Trump. That means that this isn't about legal technicalities: it's a politically mediated reality. Translation- no one is going to bust POTUS for an evasive non-answer because it would actually undermine the investigation- not further it.
No one is ACTUALLY worried that they're out to create a "perjury trap". They're concerned because Trump is a pathological liar, and he's already committed several acts of obstruction. The second there's an interview- Mueller's team can write the obstruction report. And they're terrified of that- as well as the additional acts of obstruction Trump will no doubt engage in during an interview.
