Perfect example of waste-generating bureaucracy

Obeying rules, Detroit builds wheelchair ramps to nowhere
Quote:
Grandy, one of Detroit's best examples of drastic depopulation, is the poster street for unnecessary wheelchair ramps — especially because they cost $12,000 per intersection.
There are 13 blocks of new ramps, by my count, or $156,000 for ramps to nowhere. Many of the sidewalks on these 13 blocks won't provide passage to those walking on two legs, let alone those on bikes or in wheelchairs.
In a perfect world, there are many better uses for those dollars, just about anywhere.
On Grandy, whose residents are among the city's poorest, the waste of resources is painful to see.
Liagala gave me a disapproving look in a dream when I jokingly compared a Mark Henry promo to Randy Savage.
It was just a joke! :(
A totally inappropriate one, IMO. You deserved every bit of that disapproving look!
In completely unrelated news, I came to this thread with a frown of my own. The company we use to process our payroll sent out one of those annual quality surveys a while ago. I responded, checked off the boxes, left the comment section blank, and considered it done. They've been on a big "We listen to you" kick lately, so I got a call from a rep about my survey response, and to see if there were any comments I wanted to add after the fact. Still no. The rep got off the phone and closed the case. Well... every closed case generates a quality survey. So I just had the opportunity to complete a survey asking about my experience with a representative asking about my experience with a survey.
On that survey leave a comment asking for your comments to be taken seriously and request follow up.
Dead robin in the snow. :(
Did you call Batman to let him know?
Evidently I forgot to pay my phone bill last month. Not sure how.. I even marked it on my bill sheet as paid.
Bastards. Also - $.45 a minute for overage. Rapists.
And they have not applied my 29% discount. :(
