Anyway, I want to respond to an excellent conversational rep that got me thinking.
Thread: Bus monitor bullied by middle schoolers.
My generation didn't grow up thinking this, and I don't think I'm that much older than you at 41. I was taught to respect everyone first, judge them on their actions.
I'm not going to disagree with you in the least. I think you're part of the X generation that it fell to translate Baby Boomer to the rest of the world. You translate a respectable, clean, gentile America...one grounded upon morality and God. But, and excuse me for being a millennial fatalist, religion no longer has precedent here while we worship celebrities and athletes. This gentile, clean, America is not a language we understand. Millenials wouldn't even know what it looked like if they saw it. What do we have that the generations before have given us? We have ourselves and our self-reliance. Hard survivors that have come to terms with their future of a polluted environment, failed religions, no social security, a completely outsourced economy etc. We value technology, leisure, independance, and money but we know we have to get it ourselves because the generations before us are slowly sucking the country dry. We count the days until the Boomers are out of power so we can treat the gays and immigrants like people and stop going to war for resources. I'm not saying we're better or worse, just different. Likely the generation we produce will fix everything. They will call you the ruiners and us enablers. They'll invent technology that we argued wasn't necessary for environmental conditions the Boomers told us didn't matter. Things will get better but not because of us!
Anyway, I heard something on the radio today and this rep put it in perspective I guess.
