I wonder if Democrats realize that "mandatory" evacuations don't literally mean "mandatory." It just means a threat exists in the area and you should leave the area because emergency services won't be working in the area until the threat has passed.

I was watching some videos of people who were in the areas hit and they said they evacuated TO areas that were supposed to be "safe", only to be stuck there when the hurricane changed direction the day before and it turns out they would have been safer if they had just stayed where they were originally.Quote:

Defying evacuation orders is basically killing yourself, but you're also putting people at risk when you decide to call for a rescue. As happened hundreds upon hundreds of times during Ian.

Even more ironic when you realize Hurricane Ian was forecasted to create deadly storm surge along the entire area it flooded as early as a week ago. But DeSantis still decided not to act and people still defied the late evacuation notices.
