I'd didn't look at spec sheets on both but it doesn't look near as good as the old Cherokee. And when comparing the patriot to the nitro on looks alone the nitro wins, hard.

I didn't say it looks as good. I said it is the only current model that looks similar. In regards to look of it compared to the Nitro, we can agree to disagree. I like how it looks.
My 2011 Subaru will have a higher resale value (relative to the original price) than your Jeep. With the exception of American made, a Forrester would cover every other "requirement" you listed... and you wouldn't be one of those jackasses in a gay Jeep. (Just trolling now, it's awesome to have a brand new ride, and I hope you enjoy it.)
I liked my beater Pooparu when I had it.
Matt woke up with a bad headache this morning :(
Yes, I most certainly do. Especially in bad weather... I've driven exactly one car that went better in the snow than my Subaru, and that was my dad's 2003 Jaguar X-Type, with the 3.5 motor. The AWD on that thing was ridiculous.... (4x4 trucks go in the snow, but they don't seem to grip the road like AWD does.) The sticker price on the Jaguar was more than 2x the sticker price of my Subaru, so you get what you pay for. Well, not really, I bought a Subaru, I got more than I paid for. My dad currently has an '08 Infinity G35, which is AWD. My Subaru kicks its ass in the snow... and that fucker was also 2x the cost of my Subaru.
(Oh, and I clicked on Car and Driver, that 1 star rating for the Patriot (albeit, the 2010 model) doesn't have me too sold on the quality of that vehicle.)
You can relax. You didn't buy the Jeep Patriot.
Car and Driver is known to not like CVT engines, since they're louder. The complaints about the 2010, except the CVT, have been changed for the most part. They've added extra sound insulation now, so the noise of the CVT is limited. The 2011 Patriot is considerably different than the 2010. Coming from a car that had a custom exhaust that was loud, I don't notice the noise.
They also say it's "uncomfortable". I'm comfortable in it and I enjoy it. Does it really matter at that point what a reviewer says that I should feel when I'm sitting in it?
My Jeep has AWD with on-demand full time 4WD. It drives fantastic in the snow. This winter in Boston, I had plenty of time to test it out.
Don't worry, Gib. I know you're always ready to e-rage. I like my car and I didn't feel like paying more for a car I didn't want to buy. Given my requirements (which don't need to be put in quotations, because they're actually what I was looking for when I bought it), the Jeep fits my needs. The Subaru and the Nitro were both more and didn't fit my needs.
I'm sorry that someone drove slow in front of you one morning. Something tells me it wasn't the gay Jeep that forced the driver to drive slow, but rather it was the driver's fault. I doubt if they were in a "real Jeep" that they would have been going faster, even if they had a vanity plate and a rag top to prove that they were in a real Jeep. If the doors were off, they still would probably have been driving too slow for you.
Next time you come up you come up on someone on the highway who is driving too slow for you, especially at 4:30 AM with few other people on the road, take a deep breath and pass them.
