Except whoops, that is also wrong. No matter how you spin it, the overall crime rate is down by over half. In sure it you narrow it down to crimes committed by Professor Plum, in the Library with a Candlestick may be up, but you really have to fucking cherry pick to make up stats like he does.
In 1997, the crime rate in 1997 per 100,000 was 1.98
In 2018 it was 0.89.

Except it's a perfectly valid observation. Maybe it would happen a week later, if all the circumstances such as having an unlocked door, having a bunch of cowardly cops on duty and assuming the "cooling off" period which is the point of waiting periods didn't change his mind.
