The estimates from actual data appears to show just 65k uses of defensive gun use per year on average. The survey you provided for your numbers is so flawed, laughably biased, and already debunked that it's funny anyone actually takes it seriously. Any reasonable person would see that number and think... that's way to high, but you just regurgitated it like a good little boy.

The amount of death/injury from guns is more than the reported defensive gun uses. So no, guns are a net loss of human life.

I include injury because it's a violent use of a gun. I also don't think a defensive use of a gun should be viewed only next to gun deaths.

on top of what other people have mentioned regarding this, the study cited in that report says itself that the number is disputed. googling "do guns prevent deaths" brings up stuff like https://www.science.org/content/arti...firearm-deaths and tons similar that i'm not linking showing how many deaths/injuries are caused each year by guns.

either way, i'm not even fully anti-gun, but i am anti-expect-teachers-to-defend-children-in-an-unimaginably-stressfull-situation - my specific argument is in regard to arming teachers to prevent mass school shootings. we've had 2 instances now as far as i know where there has been an armed PO at the scene and they did shit to prevent anything from happening, but we expect teachers to do more? it's a stupid, idiotic idea.

The original claim was firearms prevent 2.5 million CRIMES every year, and yet you provide a graph showing "defensive use" of a firearm in which a gun was fired, almost all of which resulted in a death or injury, and all of which resulted in the police getting involved.

Those aren't even close to being the same statistics.

There is a video floating around during the time far left insurrectionists took over parts of Seattle where a man finally had enough of the fuckers camping out in front of where he lived so he started to flip over all of the tables and shit. At one point a violent leftist insurrectionist approaches the man with a knife, the man pulls out a gun, NEVER POINTS IT AT ANYONE (unlike criminal Alec Baldwin), and tells the dude to drop his knife, which he does. The man then proceeds to calmly put his firearm away and continue to tear down the camp.

Was a violent crime prevented by a firearm? Absolutely. Was a gun fired? Nope. Did the police get involved at all? Nope.

See how wrong your comparison is? Probably not.

If I trip down the stairs, is that a violent use of stairs?
