Actually chemises aren't even all that body-flattering. Most of them are usually embroidered (if you're rich) cotton, linen or wool...resembling mumus. They have absolutely no shape to them and were worn over pantaloons as sort of a modern day bra and underwear, if I'm correct.
Usually at night women would wear them to sleep in, if you could afford ladies in waiting to undress you from the layers and layers of clothes you would wear in the morning.
In GS, chemises seem to be more of the cheap Ren Faire idea of them. I'm fairly sure that even peasants had more layers than Ren Faire girls, who seem to think that wearing a chemise and a thin vest-bodice puts them in the correct period clothing. But, whatcha' gonna do? It covers everything, and with the Ren Faire example before them, they're not gonna change it.

She has very long, silky mahogany hair that is parted in the center and highlighted a deep red while several wispy tendrils frame her face and tumble to her hips. She has long, gracefully pointed ears with a slight bend at the tips. She has full, softly curved pale pink lips.
She has a pair of hooked silver spikes tipped with glittering feystones set along the slender tips of her pointed ears, and an ebon-studded silver half-ring in her lip.
She is wearing a beaded onyx component's satchel clasped with a diamond trimmed flask, a silver-edged staff harness, a blood-red thorned rose stickpin, a silver-chased moonstone locket, a marble dagger pierced heart symbol, a fleece lined dark brown coat with a double row of silver buttons, a suit of shiny curvaceous dark leather, a tightly fitted velvet tunic, a leather saddlebag style hip-satchel, a fine silver mesh handflower, a gold-threaded scarlet gem pouch, some soft pale ivory cashmere pants, and some braided open-toed sandals.
The only show I have is the tunic. I know what I wanted but it's not exactly right either.
Velvet the color of pale cream has been crafted into a sleek, well-fitted tunic. Hitting at thigh-length, the tunic has a deep neckline that is laced through tiny silver eyelets with a slender rosy pink ribbon. Fluffy cockatrice feathers dyed a myriad of colors ranging from deep amethyst, to a pale violet mixed with pink of all shades have been sewn onto the sleeves, completely encircling the wrists with color.
I can't stand the black satchel but I need a new container, and I didn't have the time to look before playing dress up.

Show: The dark crimson satin of this gown is overlaid with loosely woven onyx gossamer netting. It is cut low in the front and in the back, with off-the-shoulder straps of sleek satin made to rest lightly on the upper arms. The bodice fits tightly through the waist where the very full skirt of the gown flares out and falls all the way to the floor. There is a large ruffled flounce caught in the back by a square-cut ruby clasp.

Aaaanyway, I'm glad she let you go through with it, its a really nice gown!
K! I so love that gown design. I wanted to use a bloodjewel to do something beneath a plunging back line but decided to just bead the straps of a gown with it instead. But I so love the clasp idea.
So Jacina came back to Vaalor and I got to change her outfit.

She is wearing a pair of blue diamond earrings, a pearl adorned diamond choker, a pair of long ivory linen tippets, a textured cerulean silk gown trimmed with seed pearls, a pearl-inlaid carved ivory fan, some long indigo stockings, and a pair of ivory laced satin slippers.

Diamonds threaded on silver chain create the entwined loops of the choker. Seven short lengths of chain extend down the front of the necklace, each ending in a polished white pearl.
I DIG that necklace. Very nice outfit all around.
