I didn't know about the Avett Brothers until recently (thanks Brillat!) but they are awesome, and I wish more there were more bands with banjos

An old friend of mine recorded and is currently managing this local RI band. Saw them Friday night and it was one hell of a show. No bass, just two guitars and a drummer. Old school thrash in the veins of Kreator and Exodus with a bit of Bolt Thrower mixed in.
Venomizer ~ The Arena

I saw the musical last night and had to run home and watch a few excerpts from the movie. FYI - not the same story line and tons of comical references therein. That being said, there were probably a lot of songs, fashion choices, and references in the musical and the movie that you might feel similarly about. Me, I relished in my memories of roller derbies and Farrah Fawcett haircuts. So don't harsh my mellow!!!

I hadn't listened to WhoMadeWho before your post, but I've since checked out their latest CD and they are pretty rad. Reminds me a lot of Miike Snow.

Awesome! I like their first album a lot. Reminds me of Spacehog.

Also, was just listening to Damien Jurado the other day too! He's badass.

I went full retard with the hippy music tonight.

Hippy parents? That's completely awesome. My childhood music was southern rock like ccr and skynyrd. Still gives me warm fuzzies. Shit my daughter listens to too much pop music. I need to remember to mix it up with her or she's going to be comforting herself with lady gaga at age 40.
Still hippy related. I'm pretty much counting the minutes until the 28th at this point, god bless.

Someone that follows me on Spotify said that all the 90's music is a nice refresher. I never thought I would be one of those people caught in a decade.

I don't listen to metal much as I think my links generally show, but when I do (like now) it's generally something like In Flames. No idea how it stacks up to stuff real metalheads listen to, but it's much more melodic than most that I've heard.

I've seen soul coughing a half dozen times. They used to play first ave in minneapolis all the time. Was a great band.

God, this movie sucked so bad and the song just made it even more silly. I don't know how I ended up coming across this song again.
Been listening to this one a lot, it's just catchy.

Dancing pirate with the balloon is the winner.
Been listening to their new album lately, and Tame Impala is some pretty awesome psychedelic rock.

I come here just to see what Velfi posted.
That's one of the most awesome things someone can say (imo) w/r/t my music sharing, so thank you. That gave me a big dumb grin.
In return, here's one of my favorite songs!

I play this game way too much. Song only plays when a legion of Rome is involved in the battle.
Can't find a good youtube of my fav song (It's Never Over), but the new Arcade Fire album owns owns owns. If anyone is on the fence about it, I strongly recommend getting it. Here's a good quality for another one of my favs from it, Afterlife.

Here's It's Never Over, albeit live. A bit bass heavy, but still pretty decent quality I guess.

I like me some Gordon Lightfoot. Can't help it.

LOL, ironically my boyfriend is a ridiculous MM fan and I (get to/have to?) hear it constantly! Great band, though. I am still obsessively listening to The National (which I believe you turned me on to previously, yes?)

New tune I've been working on. Basically done for now... Waiting on some lyrical inspiration and the courage to actually sing, which is where most of my pieces end.

My hunched hope is that the actual video will just be Lady Gaga standing there in the exact outfit for the duration. The theatrics and beautiful, terrifying imagery are well accounted for by the voice, no need for elaboration. (But then again, perhaps Mother sees "no need" as "not only do it, you'll just have to do it, do it 'til the end.)

Yo, Pumpkin Head!
I bought iTunes Match and rediscovered a whole treasure trove of music. This was a college favorite for running.

And the music for Control was written by Juno Reactor, who remixed the other Gravity Kills song posted... 90's music incest!
Saw Lords of Acid around 2000 I think, quite a show. Praga Khan opened, so we got him two times in one night.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CntId4T8JBg
Damn, Lords of Acid? You are bringing back some memories.
Are you from the LA area? Swedish Eagle played them on his late night KROQ radio show in the early 90s.

Minnesota actually, far from it. I had a buddy that worked in a Cheapo... You know, back when people still used CD's. He'd sell them to us for a dollar. Couple months after I met him my collection went from 50 albums to around 500. :)
Around the same time as LOA and Praga, I also saw Juno Reactor and another favorite at the time, Front 242. Who also remixed JR.

I'm far from in the loop on a lot of bands out there, but I browse around on Youtube and suggested videos, check out albums that came out recently, um.. word of mouth from articles, iTunes suggestions.. I've found a number of rad bands on http://www.bandcamp.com and it's a cool delivery method too. I also have a channel with my cable, Music Choice, the alternative channel in this case, and it exposes me to a good bit of cool indie stuff also.
Basically, Youtube rules.
And another cool one by Chvrches, since they're GRIM AS FVCK, or something. Not really, when you think about it.
