Do you even read these boards? So you expected to post and not receive any response at all? Then what is the point, seriously? I honestly think you were looking to get responses such as, "Oooh, that's neat, i've never seen one of those before!" I'm sorry if you didn't get what you were looking for, but no one was telling you that your items were wrong. They were merely telling you that when you use such obscure words that 99% of the population will need to look up to understand, it's not worth it because people will NOT go look them up. They'll skip over you and look at one of the million other people with alterations. And honestly, if you aren't dressing up to show off your outfit, then what's the point? You may as well hang out in your bedroom alone and strut in front of the full-length mirror for your own enjoyment.

I'm posting Aihan, since rarely is he seen in his more formal sylvan clothing:

He is wearing a petrified faewood torc set with a golden hawk-shaped amber, a variegated grey chainsil tunic, a sun-streaked braided leather satchel, some pleated grey chainsil pants, and some thin soled doeskin moccasins.



You look closely at Aihan, examining a variegated grey chainsil tunic. Tailored in a loose thigh-length cut, this chainsil tunic follows a traditional sylvisterai style with a keyhole neck and wide, flaring sleeves. Cinereous threads make up the warp, while smoky blue threads form the weft, woven into variegated hues of grey that become darker as they reach the crisp folds pleated around the hemline. An embellishment of exquisitely embroidered feathers falls from the left shoulder in a sporadic pattern, as if they were stirred by the wind and held firm with ebon threads.

You look closely at Aihan, examining some pleated grey chainsil pants. Dark as stormclouds at the waist, the grey cloth of these chainsil pants fades to the lighter grey of fog and mist at the hemline. Twisting verdant threads climb the folds of the fabric in delicately embroidered blades of grass, symbolically joining the elements of sky and earth.

You look closely at Aihan, examining some thin soled doeskin moccasins. Side-laced with sturdy hide cords, the thin soles of these sylvan moccasins are made to allow the wearer to feel subtle variations in the ground, allowing for better footing.

You see Lady Michiko al'Lunacen.
She appears to be a Half-Sylvan.
She is short in stature and appears to have come of age. She has long-lashed, expressive twilight blue eyes and smooth, creamy skin. She has long, silky raven black hair that has a slender braid at the temple adorned with a suede-wrapped silver hawk feather. She has a finely contoured symmetrical face, an upturned nose and wide hips. She has petite, upswept ears that taper to delicate points.
She has a cluster of sleek eahnor rings in the ridges of both her ears.
She is in good shape.
She is holding a pallid silver mirror framed with a twining pattern of eahnor sephwir leaves in her right hand.
She is wearing a choker of feather-etched ivory and mistwood tiles, a silvery organza sylvan surcote, a gauzy emerald chainsil bliaut with knotted hanging sleeves, a collection of pale mistwood bracelets gathered by a loop of chainsil, a floral-motif eahnor ring, and a pair of supple silver kidskin slippers with narrow toes.


It's all been seen before at one point or another, I'm sure. But I LOVE that the off-the-shelf choker goes awesomely with her altered mistwood stuff. :D

She has hip-length, champagne blonde hair drawn back from her face and bound in place by a five-chained draping silver circlet set with a clear iceblossom-cut topaz. She has a delicately sculpted face, an upturned nose and slightly-curved, naturally tinged pink lips.
She has a faint curl of tattooed jade smoke at her nape that rises sinuously up her neck.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a choker of silver-edged glass tiles each housing a tiny illthorn leaf skeleton within, a multi-layered frost blue silk cloak, a rhimar blue damask gown woven with a dizzying pattern of silver-threaded whorls into the weft, a silver-dipped illthorn leaf wristcuff, and a pair of silver silk slippers with pointed toes.

Not my character, but I helped in choosing the outfit. I'm really, really happy with how it turned out. He looks so awesome!

He appears to be an Elf.
He is taller than average and appears to be in the prime of life. He has keen, argent-haloed cobalt blue eyes and fair skin. He has jaw length, pale sandy blonde hair that has a slender braid at the temple adorned with a tertiary silver hawk feather. He has high cheekbones.

He is wearing a mist grey ora disk on a thin leather cord, an elegantly tailored dark grey velvet longcoat, an open-necked smoke grey linen tunic, an onyx-inlaid ora band, some obsidian marbrinus trousers veined with silver streaks, and a pair of polished dusky leather boots with silver toes.

As the original comment about the obscurity of correct terms, I wanted to say that I wasn't trying to pick apart your alters. Although that IS something you should expect on these boards if you didn't already.

Mostly it was just a comment on an issue that all fashionistas have had to deal with at one point or another. Do we choose what is correct or what is understandable by the greater percentage of the population? Even then, what is understandable isn't always wrong.

Really, it comes down to whether or not one made the alteration to be seen. If they're court clothes, I would guess that's a yes. When you want to be seen with a certain item, in certain clothes, with a certain look, you need to be sure that those who look will understand. Otherwise, it will give the point a complete miss.

For myself, when I was playing, I picked a middle ground. I picked words that I knew the other fashionistas (who pretty much all post on here) would understand even if the rest of the population with their boots on their hands wouldn't.

The words you chose aren't readily understandable to even most of the people who make it their business to dress correctly and well. Even I had to look up botews and siglatoun. Most won't put forth that effort and it's something all of those who care just have to accept, eventually.

This is not meant to be mean, as so much else can be on these forums. It is meant to help. No, you didn't ask for it. I offered.

She is rather petite in size and appears to be in the spring of life. She has impassive, slate-ringed fog grey eyes and flawless ashen skin. She has thigh length, straight pale white hair loosely styled with a set of carved bloodjewel hairpins scattered throughout. She has an aristocratic face accented by dark cerise-tinted full lips, and a series of harsh white scars marring her forearms.
She has a silver crescent moon tattoo between her eyes surrounded by deep black inked lacework, and a black deathstone stud in her left nostril.
She is in good shape.
She is wearing a pair of wire-framed spectacles, a fur-lined sanguine silk pelisse, an inlaid obsidian skull symbol, a trailing obsidian silk kirtle swept with sanguine hues on the long layered sleeves, a dainty raven faille reticule, an onyx-beaded urnon chainlink handflower, a hip-slung thin vaalin belt of bloodjewel discs, a pair of sheer thigh-high silk stockings with a lace border, and some delicately pointed black leather poulaines.


Hairpins : Spun silver pins are topped with deep sanguine bloodjewels, each perfectly carved into the shape of a skull. At the tips of each pin are small obsidian caps to prevent harm when worn, and delicate thorn designs trace down the posts in a sinuous pattern.

Symbol (4winds transporter) : Wrought from a piece of brushed silver, the symbol is plain in its design of a cracked skull. Inlaid into the forehead is a single piece of carefully carved obsidian, running from the top rim to between the eye sockets. On the reverse side silver is swirled over the image of winged dark elven woman. Elegant script is engraved along the outer rim of the backside, in a circle around the depiction.
In the Common language, it reads:

Pelisse : Crafted of dark sanguine silk swirled with veins of twilight hues, the pelisse falls in such a way as to rest below the hips of the wearer. Lining the interior of the hood and down the front is deep black fox fur, accented with flourishing silver embroidered thorned vines along the hem and hood. Small obsidian buttons fasten the garment down the left side, each etched with the image of the crest of House Faendryl.

*Still working on fixing the features, but eh.. It's getting there.

She has a blackened ora hoop piercing some malachite beads in the upper ridge of her right ear.
She appears to be in good shape.
She is wearing a malachite cabochon strung from a thin silver forehead chain, an ebony samite longcoat, an onyx-boned malachite silk bodice, a malachite and onyx-link waist chain, some onyx leggings cross-wrapped with silk ribbon, and some black suede ankle-boots with tiny onyx buttons.

Almost all off-the-shelf, but I kind of like the look..
