I don't agree with everything republican Utah Governor Cox has said (praying who the shooter would or would not be) but I do agree with him that unregulated social media is steering us in a strange and dangerous direction. We really need to take a closer look at what the algorithms are doing to us. I think reexamining Section 230 to bring hard moderation back to social media and dropping anonymity on all platforms would be a step in the right direction.

Having said all that I don't think it's productive to point fingers at this side or that side that's stoking violence when it's the individuals perpetrating the crime's sole responsibility.

Calling someone a Nazi, racist, or fascist does not mean they should be harmed physically. We can't censor our speech just because some people out there are emotionally unstable.

Jan 6 was no hoax. We all saw it happening in real time. There is video of it.

The real problem is disinformation fucking with people's heads. Vaccines work and save lives, the 2020 vote was not stolen, speaking out against what we see happening now is not a call for violence but a warning that what happened in the 30s could happen again.
