Yeah I really don't give a single shit who plays what character, or if that character is "supposed" to be a different gender/race/whatever. It used to be minorities would get these otherwise "white" roles and some people would make some noise but largely no one cared. I know I watched those shows/movies and never even gave it a second thought. Nowadays it seems the opposite is happening, people make a big deal when minorities get these roles because they love the idea of the person getting the role being black. Case in point? A few posts in the past dozen or so posts.

And this ties into the other situation we are now seeing where people demand minorities (race, gender, orientation, etc) be given more roles. Honestly why do people have to ruin everything?

The issue here is that trans people rarely manage to get any kind of part, and the fact that they are systematically blocked from even portraying actual trans characters is symptomatic of the discrimination they face in the industry.

Also, from the audience's perspective, trans people would like to see their stories portrayed honestly by other trans people. Refusing to cast trans actors to play trans characters makes what should be a liberating moment an invalidating one instead.

And the fact that the same people who are expressing outrage at the notion of trans people having representation in an industry are also the same people who seem to express outrage over trans people using bathrooms, getting cakes made, and- good forbid- having employment protection is more than a little suspicious.

Trans people are very familiar with the notion of mountains out of molehills, there's no need to lecture on that point.
