I love how trump world is discussing/stressing about who will flip on the Donald. It seems they lack the self awareness that they're tacitly admitting guilt
We may need to revise the idea of collusion being a crime. This New Yorker article is making the case the Department of Justice considers collusion to be a crime and has the legal theory to support this.
Quote:
Allegations that Paul Manafort:
Committed a crime or crimes by colluding with Russian government officials with respect to the Russian government’s efforts to interfere with the 2016 election for President of the United States, in violation of United States law;
Committed a crime or crimes arising out of payments he received from the Ukrainian government before and during the tenure of President Viktor Yanukovych.
The second point shows Mueller’s authority to bring the case that he did against Manafort, but the real news is in the first point. That statement could not be clearer that Mueller can examine whether a member of the Trump campaign and the Russians were “colluding,” and thus working together “in violation of United States law.” In other words, according to Rosenstein, collusion would be a crime.
Bloomberg is reporting that Rosenstein confirmed to Trump the other week that he was not a target of either the Mueller or Cohen investigations:
Quote:
Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein told President Donald Trump last week that he isn’t a target of any part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation or the probe into his longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, according to several people familiar with the matter.
Rosenstein, who brought up the investigations himself, offered the assurance during a meeting with Trump at the White House last Thursday, a development that helped tamp down the president’s desire to remove Rosenstein or Mueller, the people said.
After the meeting, Trump told some of his closest advisers that it’s not the right time to remove either man since he’s not a target of the probes. One person said Trump doesn’t want to take any action that would drag out the investigation.
This target part isn't new information, but the part about Trump deciding against firing either of them is.
So much heat!
Go get 'em Rudy. I'm sure you'll wrap this up in a couple days. Truth be told, I expect Rudy to end up a witness before all is done.Quote:
Giuliani says he is joining Trump’s legal team to ‘negotiate an end’ to Mueller probe
Is the trump show jumping the shark?

@BillKristol
Rudy showing up as Trump’s lawyer is an elegant resurfacing-of-a-character-who-was-prominent-earlier-but-who-had-dropped-out-of-the-show-for-almost-a-whole-season move by the scriptwriters. Who re-emerges next? I’m thinking Omarosa.
