July 29: The prison video recording system stopped working and was not repaired.

August 9: Espstein's cellmate was transferred. In violation of prison policy, Epstein was not assigned another cellmate.

August 9: In violation of prison policy, Epstein was allowed to make an unmonitored and unrecorded phone call.

August 9: Guards did not conduct any required nighttime rounds. Records were falsified to indicate that rounds were conducted.

August 10: Epstein was found dead in his cell.

Having worked in a Megajail (We held up to 1500 inmates, usually around 1450) none of that really seems bizarre....

The Camera system- That likely is on contract. No one can touch it except the business contracted with and that could take a month or more for them to finally getting there to fix it. I don't see it as strange.
Cellmate- That is a strange policy and likely has more to do with overcrowding issues, but they may have been waiting on a new shipment to put a new guy there. He may have been the odd man out. However, if we thought someone was suicidal, we'd place the inmate on suicide watch and move them to a special housing unit. They have no shoes, no clothes, except for a special green smock that is too thick to tie into a noose.
Call- Some guards are shitty. At the megajail I worked at, we had at least 3 cases of COs being bribed.
Nighttime rounds- That is lazy/overworked guards. I always made my rounds, but think about it. The guards KNOW the cameras are out, who is going to say they didn't do them?
