It's not just media though- it's other sources of information as well. Universities. non-partisan organizations like the CBO, and Fact Checkers- basically anyone who is in a position to discredit conservative media's narrative is blacklisted by the consumers of conservative media.
As people have become increasingly reliant on right wing outlets, those outlets have started to one upefhjlgcfukfeviebnklujjviclbbgrltufkkjgvgdbuluddu ltcblfljnktjkvub each other by moving further and further right. At the same time, the absence of any critical perspectives or non-partisan narratives the rest of us get from Fact Checkers and Non-Partisan outlets, for example, has allowed conservative outlets to come up with wilder and wilder stories because their readers are no longer exposed to anything that would make them question those stories. Or, as is often the case, they've been so conditioned to distrust non-conservative sources that hearing a non-partisan Fact Checker or a Washington Post or even an ABC provide counter evidence actually makes them less likely to believe the truth. (Same Phenomenon as Anti-Vaxxers and Medical Experts)
And, over the last few years, they've been fairly successful at creating social media isolation as well (though social media itself has contributed to the problem): convincing people that Facebook and Google are discriminating against conservatives (Actually the opposite is going on because Big Tech is afraid of further conservative bias wrath) because they're fact checking these increasingly fabricated conspiracy theories that are genuinely untrue.
Enter Parler. If you haven't created a Parler account just to see what it's like- you should. I won't lie, it's been incredibly disheartening. It's one of the scariest- if not *the* scariest- things I've encountered in American politics. But it helps the rest of us understand why so many conservatives are convinced that the litany of conspiracy theories we hear from the Right each day are true and why attempts to present them with evidence that discredits the conspiracy theories not only don't help- it actually make things worse.
I should create a "Batshit insane/scary things heard and seen on Parler today" thread. It would help people understand what we're up against and why this country is starting to fall apart.
