Just asked him, and he said that the Army does it that way, enlistment and basic first, then immediate entrance to OCS, and that they teach different things. The contract includes a voluntary separation clause if they change their minds about admitting him to OCS.
I guess it makes sense if he has 0 ROTC training. I know I asked about enlisting a couple years ago and they said with my prior service I wouldn't have to go through Army BTC but I guess they changed that recently and it is required for all prior services unless you had some spec ops type job.
I would love to go back to boot camp, that was some hilariously good times.

There is a video of him eating it, and he eats 1 piece of bacon and then saves the other until basically last. So freaking cute.
