My family has 4 legal immigrants from Peru. They think people like you are the bigots. They worked hard to legally immigrate here. Their family had a REAL reason to claim persecution, yet they didn't. They all respected the process, they all got their papers without marrying anyone, going through the process. It takes NO effort at all to realize there is a process to LEGALLY immigrate to the US. It's not easy, and I'd agree needs to let more in annually. But that doesn't matter. My issue with Trump is his intentionally playing to the fears of his base with factually incorrect rhetoric while stoking racial tensions.

The actual issue of immigration and how we handle it is another issue. One I also disagree with this administration and the previous administration as well. In fact, Bush Jr was more in line with my views on it.

First off, drawing a line on the ground and calling that a border is a man made construct. The laws governing society are man made constructs. Both of which change as times change. The purposes of these things are meant to provide a guideline to order. When the order is broken there are guidelines for how to deal with it. Broken laws require steps to charge, try, and adjudicate. Different laws have different severities and punishments typically are balanced by that.

While there may be a "law" about crossing a "border" as being illegal the severity of breaking that law is minuscule especially when you consider there are women and children among them just trying to get to a better life. The punishment for that is to scale of the crime.

Trump has used his rhetoric to get votes and in the process knowingly insinuated that ALL of them are murderers or rapists or something similar which is not truthful. It misrepresents more good people than paints an accurate portrait of them and he knows this. But he does it because he knows people are scared and will vote for him if he keeps them scared then promises to keep them safe.

That rhetoric then spreads from not just "illegal immigrants" but Mexicans and brown people and then some whack job shoots up a Walmart.

The only thing he's done that I approve of is approving the Space Force. It was in the works before he took office but happy to see it none the less. While I don't think we should turn space into a battlefield it is worth doing to set up structure for our eventual move towards other worlds.

I thought handing over the articles of impeachment was more symbolic, like "Hey here is why we are impeaching the president." I didn't think they literally hand delivered the articles.

And even if that's how it works does it really take 9 people to walk the articles over and oh let's be sure we tell everyone exactly what time it happens so we can have cameras rolling while we all look like we are handing over secret orders that will end the war 2 years sooner and save millions of lives?
