I'm as middle class, middle west white working man as you can be yet feel no threats to American Culture. It doesn't even hit my brain that something is happening out there that's disrespecting me and I find it appalling that half the country is willing to support a guy like trump because he panders to this imagined slight.

But beyond politics, Hawkins said, the average American conservative feels bombarded daily with disrespect.
"He turns on a TV show where he's insulted, and then he's like, 'well, maybe I'll just unwind and watch an awards show' — the Oscars or something — where he gets trashed all day long," Hawkins said. "He goes to Twitter and he's got some you know guy calling him in a-hole ... this is sort of like a pervasive all-out attack if you're a conservative. And it's all the time sort of thing."

He also said, "There is a sense on the right that is apocalyptic and fearful."
Quote:
"We want to be treated with respect, and we will not tolerate anything less which is just unacceptable for this to continue. I'm tired of Hollywood spitting on us. I am tired of academia spitting on us. I'm tired of the news media spitting on us," he said.

This feeling of losing the American culture war reflects polling of white, working-class Americans. A poll taken last year by the Public Religion Research Institute and The Atlantic showed 48 percent of them believe that "things have changed so much that I often feel like a stranger in my own country."
I don’t think he thought this one through. Just like everything else he posts.

It's high time for these "saviors" to come out and directly attack the president rather than let dribbles and drabs leak. Take a damn stand already.Quote:
WASHINGTON — White House chief of staff John Kelly has eroded morale in the West Wing in recent months with comments to aides that include insulting the president's intelligence and casting himself as the savior of the country, according to eight current and former White House officials.
The officials said Kelly portrays himself to Trump administration aides as the lone bulwark against catastrophe, curbing the erratic urges of a president who has a questionable grasp on policy issues and the functions of government. He has referred to Trump as "an idiot" multiple times to underscore his point, according to four officials who say they've witnessed the comments.

H.R. McMaster reportedly thinks Trump is an “idiot” with the brain of a “kindergartner”
The national security adviser isn’t the only member of Trump’s war cabinet who seems to feel that way.
This helps explain the "ends justifies the means" scorches earth politics coming from the right, the abandonment of American ideals and their utter lack of consistency when it comes to standards of morality.Quote:
In a separate study, the same authors also found that collective narcissism was the biggest predictor of voting for Trump, after political partisanship (i.e. I always vote Republican so I will again now).
The researchers believe that conspiracy theories appeal to collective narcissists as they offer simple answers to complex questions of why their group is not appreciated as much as it should be (in their view) by others.
“This reassures collective narcissists that their group is important and challenging enough to inspire envious plotting of others," said Golec de Zavala.
If our fellow Americans are hell bent on clinging to conspiracy theory then we're sunk.
