I'm more pointing out the sedition laws, the Japanese internment camps, all the other things generally done by dictator/tyrants.

Yeah, I stand by what I said, no matter the means by which it was achieved. IMO, he canceled free and fair elections. You can go through machinations to come at it from different angles and perhaps you'll convince me otherwise though. I respect your opinions, we just differ here.
He also banned some political parties. People justified that by saying those parties were pro-Russian parties and they were at war with Russia.
Like...so? You either believe in democracy or you don't. When all you care about is getting your way then you don't want democracy, you indeed want a dictatorship as long as said dictator agrees with you.
So, were we no longer a democracy when we banned certain parties in the 40s, 50s, and 60s?
He is literally following the nation's Constitution. I mean, fine if you wanna disagree with it, but it is what it is. If it helps to put more Russians into the ground, oh well.
From my understanding, certain states banned the Communist party back then from being on the ballot because the state determined they could not take an oath to uphold our Constitution. I think such action is appropriate here or anywhere else when the stated goal of the political party is a violent revolution.
I understand where you are coming from. When the enemy is at the gates, a Caesar is granted dictatorship powers. The problem is, as history has repeatedly shown, such people rarely if ever abandon such power when the war is over. Absolutely power corrupts absolutely. I have no reason to believe Zelensky is any different.
