I could definitely see Peppa Pig or similar shows causing pronunciation differences. It's toddlers that tend to really focus in on it, watching it over and over and over again, and they're very much still developing core language skills. Everybody has those weird little pronunciation quirks, especially for words that aren't used often in everyday language. I still don't know the correct pronunciation of the word niche. ni-sh? nee-sh? And linguistics was literally part of my education. I say neesh. I don't know why. That's probably how I heard it first.Quote:
