I don't disagree, apparently that's just how NASA do. Regardless, KSP has taught me that flying something to the sun is much harder than one might imagine, so for us to do it and be able to take measurements from a small orbit of 4 million miles is pretty fucking rad. That's around 7 times closer than the closest orbit of Mercury.
