If so, according to the last time I checked, we should thank the Mexicans, because of them we are exactly at 2.11.

Our planet does have limited resources, but I disagree that we don’t have enough to support the current population. In addition, humans have the power of ingenuity and can adapt to survive. It’s machiavellian to think we need to cull the population for our own benefit. Don’t think like Thanos.

That’s the issue as well, it’s a double edged sword, while a declining population does hurt economic growth, too many people also hurts economic growth in the long term.

What were/are the effects of China’s one-child policy and why did they end it? I think that is a good place to start. They have a serious demographic issue now that will have long lasting negative impacts just like Japan.
