Had to put one of my dogs to sleep yesterday. A stray dachshund I picked up a few years ago off the road that seemed to be neglected, ended up with bad back problems to where he could barely walk around on his own and didn't have much of any quality of life left, all he could do pretty much was eat and sleep and sometimes walk around, usually needing my help, and couldn't get to his feet on his own. Then about a week ago his left leg pretty much stopped working, making him even more miserable.
Still doubting the fuck out of myself despite all that. I never had to put a pet to sleep before and it sucks fucking ass. :(

Really sorry to hear that. I've been in the same situation myself and I'd say 99% of the time you'll always doubt yourself in this situation, and there's nothing you can really do to stop that doubt. Just know that you gave him a better life than he would have had for his last few years. And when they get to the point he was at, how much enjoyment out of life do they really get anyway.
