The government already has too much power. For example, police currently have the power to kick in your door and shoot you in the head. Universal surveillance by definition will apply to those police (and all other government agents) and deter them from abusing those powers. The only thing protecting you now is your illusions, and illusions haven't been above 2/2 since Ice Age.

And we already don't have any privacy; again, only the illusion of privacy. You can't sacrifice that which you do not own.

If a body cam can't deter the police, what makes you think this would?

So your argument is that since we no longer have some privacy we should just give the rest of it away? So people don't get scammed?

I don't know why anyone thought a camera the given police officer could, you know, reach their hand up and turn off would deter anything. You're comparing a doorknob to a deadbolt.

My argument is that we don't have any privacy at all, but we gave it away to people who don't care to protect us. I encourage you to look up where crime happens tomorrow, because it is an incredibly disquieting read.

No, they are essentially the same thing. Both can be turned off.

Apparently a few members of a French animal rights activist group took a homeless man's puppy from him, and there is significant outrage over it.

In the meantime, I'd be interested as to the extent of the activist group's claims that the puppy lacked vaccinations/etc and was otherwise in suboptimal health was 'true'.

I'm always ambivalent about beggars with pets. Never a good answer.
