You would be surprised. This is one of the two fundamental flaws in demonization - rapists aren't monsters, demons, etc. They're just people, homo sapiens, and for better or (usually) for worse you can train people to do anything.

It is foolish and naive to believe you can do anything to assure your safety against a determined attacker. The President has thousands of well armed and highly trained people whose sole job is to protect him, and JFK was assassinated anyway. You think a 19 year old woman can handle it?
