So my neighbor is whining because of people who speed in our neighborhood. Now don't get me wrong, I totally understand her concern because I have seen people speed down our neighborhood before and we have a lot of younger children living here.
However her reason for complaining just made me want to smack her.
Okay, so dig it. The snow where I live is still piled high, probably a good 2 feet on the ground and some places the snow has been so piled high because of the snowplows that you can't see over the mounds of snow while driving. The roads themselves are fine though.
So her daughter wanted to go play at a neighbor's house or something and her husband let her FOUR YEAR OLD DAUGHTER walk to the house by herself. Granted, it is literally just next door, according to her. But she has to go into the road to get there because I'm assuming if she attempted to walk through the yard she would be buried in snow and we have no sidewalks where we live. While the roads themselves are safe to drive on you still have to figure the snow is still piled high probably a good foot on either side of the road so it's much more narrow now.
She then admits that the little girl doesn't always remember to look both ways before she gets into the road and apparently the father ran out there just in time to tell the little girl "STOP!" before she walked into the road with a speeding car gunning down the road.
Okay. So. Wait. You let your 4 year old girl, who doesn't always remember to look both ways before walking into a road, walk into the road to get to her friend's house all by herself and you're mad at someone else for not realizing this and possibly speeding a little bit?
Like...what...SMACK!
