That's how I wake up on winter mornings. I run out and start the cars...generally without shoes or pants. It builds character.

Finally went through the 5th round interview with a few of the corporate VPs on Tuesday. Got a call back later that day with intent to extend offer, but they were vetting out the details... They just got back to me today and can't beat my current salary, they can match it, offer a signing bonus, and slightly better benefits that'll fully vest over 5 years. Not sure how I feel.
Sorry, thought that was a common term, but I'll explain... cause I explain stuff.Quote:

fully vest?...
So, the company matches up to 7% of 401(k) contributions. This value vests over 5 years.
For simplicity, lets go through an example where they're matching 10k a year.
I don't get their 10k yet. That value gradually becomes mine over time.
So, after 3 years, I get 20% of the value they've put in so far (so, that'd be 6k (20% of 10k per 3 years)
After 4 years I get 50% of what's been matched up to this point (20k/40k)
After 5 years, I get the whole match from all points up to now and going forward. (50k)
It's a forceful employee retention policy that penalizes people from jumping between jobs often.
This is sad.
It's pictures showing how fast neighborhoods in Detroit are decaying from Google Earth photos.
Hard to believe some of those photos are only four years apart.
