Thread for Things That Made You Frown Today

My wife was assaulted in our driveway yesterday. She pulled off the road to get the mail, one of the boys hopped out, got the mail, got back in the car and then my wife pulled into the driveway. Apparently a lady didn't like this so she pulled behind my wife and laid on her horn. The lady then drove up the road a bit, turned around, came back and pulled into our driveway. She then proceeded to yell at my wife cussing her out calling her names etc. My wife called the cops and got the lady's license plate number. While she was getting the plate number the lady tried to back up then turned off her car, got out, and pushed my wife out of the way.

Cops showed up while the lady was still there, took a report and told my wife that the lady was very sorry for her actions and realized that she shouldn't have acted like that.

...fuck that I'm waiting to see the report and I'm going to look to press charges, I can think of several.

The fuck is wrong with people?

No just once, pulling behind my wife the first time was off the road but not in my driveway. When she pulled into my driveway after turning around in the road she pulled up into my driveway all the way up to where my wife parks (my driveway is pretty big I can fit something like 11 cars in it).

What the fuck, man. I worry about the mental state of the population sometimes, to do something like that without even thinking of the consequences or if a confrontation is even necessary in the first place.

There was nothing to be confrontational about so the whole thing is just weird. Lady must be off her damn rocker.

Well, I'm glad that it was 'just' that ... as my first thought when you said "assaulted" was that some random guy got ahold of her...

How is she doing presently?

She's fine. Normally she reacts to conflict with flight and had she been alone I'm sure she would have just gone in the house and shut the door. Having the kids with her turned on the fight response. I'm just mad I wasn't working from home yesterday.

The lady is looney, but since your wife didn't get hurt at all I'm going to say it'd be a waste of time and money. She could even possibly turn it around and say your wife was standing behind her vehicle as she was trying to leave, which could fall into the false imprisonment category. It sucks it happened, but I'd just move on.

She could pull forward and turn around if she wanted to, she was not detained in any way shape or form. She just wanted to back up to get my wife to move as a show of power.

Alright, so what are the damages? What law did she break? Unless you've got "No trespassing" signs up or whatever is required in your area, I'm betting she didn't break any law driving onto your driveway. There's really nothing to go with.

edit: Even if she did break the law, since no cop saw it... you got nothin.
