Call your local electric company. I'm guessing it's IP&L? Ask for an energy audit as well as a history of electric consumption for that address. They will come out and look at your appliances and tell you what is the energy hog. They will also look at your windows/doors/attic/etc.. and give you energy conservation tips to lower your bill. They may also give you some certificates to install more insulation, seal your ductwork, clean your HVAC system, install a smart thermostat, etc...

It's well worth the time, IMO.

Oh suuure.... the day or two after I order a new computer.. my current one decides to let iTunes work as well let me plug my phone in at the same time I use my mouse.. and they both work at the same time!

Mine hit about 300 last month... I also noticed electricity costs went up pretty substantially on a month to month. From about 8 cents per kilowatt hour to about 10 cents. Apparently January is always a high month in terms of electricity generation costs, based on historical information I found via goggling.

I'll also likely plan an energy audit sometime soon.

I don't think you know what the word troll means. If someone disagrees with you, they are not a troll purely on that basis.

In over 7000 posts on PC I have noticed characteristics about her and you and many other people. It doesn't make her last comment a trolling attempt. Infact, I agree that owning is generally better than renting or leasing.

depends upon where you live. I get a lot more renting than I would buying with what I can afford in my area. Too many people buy what they cannot afford and are stuck with under water mortgages, and many people also do not have the level of responsibility needed for owning.
